During this interactive session, Liz and Page will share how they turned a pandemic challenge into a thriving international business. Drawing on their background as magazine editors and stylists, they spotted a gap in the interiors market and launched a line of modular, handmade seagrass rugs. What started as an idea quickly grew into a successful brand, now offering ten collections crafted by artisans across seven countries.

About Liz Strong and Page Mullins:

With a degree in interior design from the University of Georgia, Liz Strong was drawn immediately into the fast-paced and endlessly exciting world of shelter (interiors) magazines. She served 6 years as decorating editor for Coastal Livingmagazine, sharing her style sense with over 5 million readers. Liz went on to open Liz Strong Style, a freelance business, based from her home in Los Angeles.  She styled  (and still does on occasion) interiors for over a decade for national US shelter magazines and catalogues (a truly fantastic and exhilarating job that prepared her for just about any type of chaos). It wasn’t until the pandemic 2020 and the birth of her now five-year-old twins, which inspired her to leave a business she loved and start anew, affording less time on the road. And so, along with lifelong friend and fellow magazine editor/ stylist, Page Mullins, Rush House was born. Drawing on years of experience in residential style and a love for far-flung travel and exotic destinations, the pair spotted a hole in a interiors market and began importing and selling handmade seagrass rugs comprised of squares, which could be easily connected at home by customers to create a rug of any size. The business took off quickly, and in a way they never could have imagined possible. Today, Rush House offers ten rug collections, all made-by-hand, from over seven countries around the globe.
